OOC organizes a rehabilitation and recovery workshop for musculoskeletal tissue

 

Thursday afternoon, the rehabilitation and recovery workshop for muscle tissue and bones, organized by Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by Oman Sports Medicine and Anti-Doping Committee, will conclude this afternoon, Thursday, over the course of five continuous days as part of ongoing efforts to enhance understanding and skills in the field of physical therapy. As well as, providing an environment for effective educational program for national team specialists and rehabilitation experts in order to improve the care of athletes and enhance their physical performance.

The workshop aimed to learn about the foundations, principles and philosophy of osteopathy, understand and apply biomechanics to the body, and be able to make an initial differential manual diagnosis. It also aimed to identify and diagnose physical dysfunction, learn manual assessment skills and review skeletal motor tests to aid in diagnosis. In addition to safely mastering the practical use of skeletal techniques on the spine and limbs, and integrating actual practical cases with osteopathic techniques and how to deal with different cases.

The workshop was lectured by orthopedic medicine specialist Dr. Ayman Al-Batawi, with the participation of 23 physical therapists from the national teams. It included theoretical lectures and practical applications on many diverse topics of relevance, including anatomy, manual assessment skills, biomechanics, initial differential diagnosis, and spinal laws and terminology and structural examination of osteopathy. Additionally, functional dysfunctions and structural treatment of the lumbar spine, techniques using muscle strength, and others.
