OOC reveals details of its participation in the 19th Asian Games in China
The national teams participating in the 19th Asian Games scheduled to be held in China, Hangzhou during the period from September 23 to October 8 have completed their full readiness to compete and achieve the desired results from participation, through the plans and programs prepared for them.
Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) announced its participation in the Asian Games with a delegation consisting of 44 male and female athletes representing seven sports, namely athletics, weightlifting, maritime sports, shooting, sailing, beach volleying, and hockey, during the meeting held by OOC at its headquarters Thursday. “With representatives of the national teams that will participate in the tournament.
During the meeting, the technical details related to participation were reviewed, and the most important indicative procedures that will be implemented in China during the tournament were highlighted, as well as the technical details of the competitions, their schedule and places of residence, and the requirements for the tournament before traveling to China and the procedures upon arrival and during the period of presence in The course, in addition to the measures to prevent and control infection from the Corona virus and the most important health measures followed to ensure the safety of sports teams and administrative and technical personnel.
OOC has completed all procedures related to participation in the tournament, and the delegation includes the official and administrative Omani delegation, the national teams and their technical and administrative bodies.
Our national athletics team’s competitions will be held during the period from September 29 to October 5, 2023, at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Stadium, where the delegation list includes 12 athletes, administrators, and technicians.
As for weightlifting, the national team roster includes 4 athletes and administrators, and the competitions will begin on September 30 and continue until October 7 at the Xiaoshan Sports Center.
The roster of our national shooting team includes 8 male and female athletes, technical and administrative staff, and the competitions will be held during the period from September 24 – October 1, 2023 at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Center.
Our national water sports team also includes two players competing in 6 competitions, and the competitions will be held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Stadium during the period from 24 to 29 September 2023.
As for the delegation of our national sailing team, the competitions will begin on September 19 and continue until September 27 at the Xiangshan Sailing Center. The delegation’s list consists of 6 players, a coach, and an administrator.
Beach volleyball competitions will be held at the Ningbo Beach Volleyball Center during the period from September 19 to 28, and our national team roster includes 4 players and a coach.
As for the national hockey team, it includes 24 players and technical and administrative staff, and the competitions will be held during the period from September 24 – October 7, 2023 at Gongshu Sports Stadium.
The national teams participating in the Asian tournament were selected according to the report of the technical team formed by OOC on the subject of international participations that fall under the umbrella of the committee, which includes the games and competitions eligible to participate in each tournament according to the analysis and statistical data of the proposed games and their conformity with the foundations and standards set by the committee. And the results of participation during the 2022-2023 seasons, and the continental and international classification of games and competitions.
It is worth noting that the Asian Games are considered the largest sporting gathering on the Asian continent and the second largest global event after the Summer Olympic games. The nineteenth will witness the participation of more than 12,000 male and female athletes representing 45 Asian countries and competing in 40 sports (61 disciplines, 483 events). They are distributed in 5 integrated Olympic villages for various sporting events.
This is the third time that the People’s Republic of China has hosted the Asian Games after the Beijing 1990 and Guangzhou 2010 Games. The nineteenth was scheduled to be held in 2021 and was postponed twice due to Covid-19.
