Barakt Al Harthy claim bronze medal in Men’s 100 meter

 

Konya: Oman star of our athletics team, the runner Barakat al Harthi snatched  the first medals in the competitions of the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be held in Konya, Turkey, from 9 to 18 August.  Barkat achieved a time of 9.99 seconds, close to his record, which he achieved in the West Asian competitions in Jordan 2018, by achieving a time of 9.97 seconds. While the runner Ali al Balushi bid farewell to the tournament’s semi-finals in the 100-meter sprint, and the runner Mazoon al Alawi also bid farewell to the session’s competitions by leaving the semi-finals of the 100-meter sprint, also player Salem al Yarubi was also unable to approach the first places in Triple jump competition and bid farewell to the tournament after finishing seventh.

 

On the other hand, the Oman delegation participated in the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of the competitions under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, where the Turkish President announced the official opening of the tournament with words and welcoming the participating delegations and fans at Konya Stadium with more than 40,000 spectators. Oman delegation took part in the event through 30 athletes among 5,000 athletes from 55 countries and competing in five games including athletics, cycling,  swimming, shooting and weightlifting.

 

Oman shooting team (trap) started the competitions on Wednesday with five shooter among 117 shooter from 21 countries. They competed in five qualifications round including three round on Wednesday and two round on Thursday. eight teams will advance to the final on Thursday.

 

Oman shooting team represented by men team, including Salim al Nasiri, Abdullah al Mandhari and Hussein al Shahoumi while women team, Reem al Hosani, Fakhriya al Jahafia and the team coach Marco Conte.

 

While the oman national weightlifting and cycling teams arrived to konya city on Tuesday to take part in the tournament.
