OOC Board of Directors holds the first meeting in 2021

Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) Board of Directors held the first meeting for 2021 yesterday morning, Sunday, at OOC, headed by Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad Al Busaidi and attended by all members. Many issues were reviewed and discussed during the next phase.

At the beginning of the meeting, OOC Chairman welcomed the members, thanking them for accepting the invitation to attend the meeting, expressing his aspirations for 2021 and his hope for the return to normal life and the end of the repercussions of the pandemic that affected the whole world last year, and its great effects on sport in particular and the consequent delay or cancel a number of tournaments and sport events.

After that, the attendees reviewed the meeting agenda, where the minutes of the sixth and last Board of Directors meeting for 2020, the minutes of the Ordinary General Assembly meeting held on December 24, 2020, in addition to reviewing the minutes of the meetings of the sub-committees for 2020 and their final reports.

The Council agreed on the date of OOC Ordinary General Assembly for 2021 to be held on April 22, 2021, and the Sultanate’s participation in the twenty-fourth Winter Olympic Games to be held in Beijing during the period (February 4-20, 2022). Referring the matter to the Planning and Following-up Committee to coordinate with the Sports Federations and Committees that wish to participate in the session and to discuss the programs for preparing their national teams and their readiness.

The attendees reviewed the memorandum of the request for accreditation of Oman Olympic Academy (OOA) as a training center for the establishment of approved courses, and the steps were noted to be taken in this regard, as well as the Council approved the Academy’s agenda for 2021, where 10 various training courses will be organized in marketing, sports law, governance, sports training and the foundations of research as well as the scientific and strategic planning for sports institutions.

The first meeting concluded with a discussion of many topics included in the new topics to be discussed.
