The Executive Office of Olympic Council of Asia(OCA) will hold its seventy-fourth meeting tomorrow at the Kempinski Hotel, Muscat, in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Olympic Council of Asia and all members of the office, where the report of the evaluation committee visit of the Olympic Council of Asia will review and discuss the cities of Riyadh and Doha, the two candidates to host the 2030 Asian Games. They will present their presentations at the 39th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, which will be held on Wednesday at the JW Marriott Hotel.

Sheikh Fahd bin Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, and Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, will arrive tomorrow Tuesday. Khalid bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Omani Olympic Committee, will arrive on Wednesday. Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee.

His Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud, Minister of Sports – Chairman of the Saudi Olympic Committee, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi Al Saud, Director General of the Riyadh 2030 File – Vice President of the Saudi Olympic Committee, and His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, President of the Qatar Football Association, also arrived in the Sultanate. And Sheikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, a member of the Executive Council of the Olympic Council of Asia, and His Excellency Dr. Syed Reza Salehi, Chairman of the Iranian Olympic Committee, accompanied by Nasrallah Sajadi, General Counselor to the President, His Excellency Adnan Darajal Al-Rubaie, Minister of Sports and Youth of Iraq, HE Lidsio Marius, President of the International Federation of Judo Visar, president of the International Federation of Tic Bull. The arrival of delegations from all the National Olympic Committees in Asia has also been completed. Representatives of (25) National Olympic Committees will attend the meeting, in addition to (20) committees that will participate through video communication.

On the other hand, Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad Al Busaidi, OOC Chairman, received yesterday, His Highness Prince Fahd bin Jalawi Al Saud, Director General of the Riyadh 2030 File – Vice President of the Saudi Olympic Committee. During the meeting, many issues of common interest in the sports field were discussed. .

The 39th OCA General Assembly meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 16, and the main purpose of hosting the Asian Games 2030, which was submitted by Doha and Riyadh, is one of the most prominent files of the meeting and at the forefront of the agenda, as it will include presentations by the delegations of the two countries and then present the report of the committee formed by OCA, which visited the two countries and viewed and met closely with the organizers of the two files, and after that the vote will be made for the first time electronically by OCA general assembly, and the final result will be announced, and after that the contract is signed with the hosts. During the meeting, a group of Asian personalities will be honored, as is the custom by OCA, and they will be awarded the Merit Award in appreciation of their effective contributions and outstanding efforts in the sports field.

A high-level protection system has been put in place to ensure the security and safety of the site not to be penetrated during electronic voting, the provision of more than one line of Internet and also wireless networks to ensure uninterrupted service. Also, OOC, in coordination with OCA, has provided more than 25 portable tablets for representatives of NOCs who will attend the meeting on Wednesday and are entitled to vote.

Oman hosting is an international-level

Hussein Al-Musallam, OCA Director General, said: I am happy to be in Oman and proud that Oman is hosting this continental event and the most valuable equipment that OOC has made, starting from receiving guests at the airport to preparing for the meeting and booking hotels for guests and other services, and through my work I traveled to different countries of the world and I have not seen an organized protocol like the Protocol of Oman, and this is a testimony that we are proud of.

 

A pioneering experience for the Sultanate

OCA Director General added: We are in the midst of our brothers and our country, and this is a pride for all of us in GCC that the meeting of OCA General Assembly is in Oman, and this is a return to a beautiful memory for organizing the second Beach Games 2010, and because of the success of these games, Oman, with its capabilities, became able to host international events.

Clear goals

Al-Muslim pointed out: OCA is 107 years old in 2020, and its launch was from the city of Manela in the Philippines in 1913 under a different name than Olympic Council of Asia, but the institution was present and it is to organize the Asian Games, and the Council is keen on the cohesion and rapprochement of the Asian Olympic Games movement through sports events, whether organizing tournaments or organizing conferences such as this one.

 

Two significant files

On the files of Riyadh and Doha, OCA Director General said: The files of Riyadh and Doha are all among the best files, by virtue of my experience in the sports field in particular for more than 30 years. GCC. Secondly, Asia today from east to west serves and provides the world with basic services for the development of sport, and support for youth. The other topic today, Asia proved to the world by organizing the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Korea and 2021 Games. Olympic Games Tokyo and Olympic Games Beijing 2022 and FIFA World Cup 2022, Today we have two cities in the Gulf region presenting the best offers by hosting a large Asian event that includes more than (50) sports games with the participation of more than (15 thousand) athletes from the Asian continent and organizing on the latest and highest levels required in terms of information systems, television broadcasting, or the Olympic Village to host athletes from training and stadiums.

Two strong files

Regarding competition expectations, Al-Muslim said: I do not have any expectations because the two files are excellent, and the offer will be transparent and beautiful in services, stadiums and organization, and for us as OCA and as an executive administration, we will give way to presenting the two files and the decision to the General Assembly and not to the Executive Office.

On the latest preparations for presenting the Riyadh file, His Highness Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz, Director General of the Riyadh File 2030, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic Committee, said: We believe in it to present a file worthy of the name of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in general and Riyadh in particular to host the largest sport event in Asia. Riyadh enjoys a distinguished infrastructure at the present time in addition to huge development projects from now until 2030, such as the Qiddiya project and the green Riyadh project in addition to dozens of mega projects that will accelerate the city of Riyadh and an ideal destination for all sports enthusiasts in 2030.

On the talk about organizing hosting meetings in Muscat, the Director General of the Riyadh 2030 file, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic Committee, said: Oman is used to such event and we have witnessed the generosity of hospitality, in welcoming and high organization despite the exceptional circumstances that the world is going through due to COVID-19. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Sayyid Khalid bin Hamad Al Busaidi, my honorable brother Taha Al-Koshari and the authentic Omani people. We also look forward to participating in OCA General Assembly between our brothers and sisters in Oman.

 

Away from politics

His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al Thani, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, indicated: First of all, we thank Oman for the generous Omani hospitality, and thank God we have touched all cooperation and support, and this made us feel that we are home, and this sports gathering is the only field away from political influence and we hope that it will continue in the same situation. He added: Electronic voting is a technological digital transformation that we must go along with and benefit from technically, and it will facilitate the voting process and Doha file is keen to organize at the highest and best possible level, and we hope to win the confidence of all Asian countries.

 

Secret vote

He explained: Abdullah Yusuf Al-Mulla, Protocol Director of Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC): We are very happy to be in Oman, the land of love and peace with our brothers in our second country, Oman, which hosts the 39th session of OCA General Assembly, as for the organization, OOC has performed its work to the fullest. Rather, it has become an expert in such organizational matters.

He added: With regard to electronic voting, it is the first time that work will be done to host the Asian Olympic Games, and the voting will be secret and I am sure that the technical matters for this vote will proceed according to what has been prepared for and we wish success to all. We also wish success to OOC in the upcoming hosting.

With regard to the files presented, he said said: Each country has worked according to what is required of it to present the file and there and the first and last decision is up to 45 Asian National Olympic Committees that will vote for one of the two cities to host this Continental event, we wish the two countries best of luck.
