Omani sailers grab Seven medal in GCC Youth Game
Oman national sailing team investigate great achievement, when they snatched Seven medals at the closing day, which held at Abu Dhabi aquatics Club during April 17 to 21.
The competitions is part of the first edition of GCC Youth Games, hosted by UAE, continue until May 2, with participation of all GCC countries, Oman, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain.
Oman sailing team ranked gold medal in optimist team category. Omani sailer Tamem al Balushi claimed silver medale after deep competition among 16 players in general optimist category. Again Tamem al Balushi won silver medale in male optimist category. Tartil Al al Hesani won bronze in femal optimist category.
While Abdullatif al Qasimi won gold medal in ILCA4 class, and his collage Faris al Hashimi finished sixth out off seven players.
Elyas al Fedhaly ranked gold in ILCA6, and his collage Hatim al Erami claimed bronze in same class within 7 participants from all GCC countries.
National junior handball team lost to Saudi Arabia 38-24 in the second match that was held at Al Batha Club hall in Sharjah. Oman handball did not perform as expected after first match against the host UAE team when was outclassed by Oman.
The first half of the match ended with the Saudi lead 20-13, the match remained unchanged in the score for Oman, to end with Saudi Arabia win.
Oman junior volleyball team lost their second test to Kuwaiti in three games to nothing on Sunday, with scores of 25-12, 25-16, 25-13. Volleyball competition takes place in Dubai from April 20 to 25.
As they lost the opening match against the host by three games to nothing. In Monday’s test, Oman team will play the third match against Qatar national team in the afternoon at Al Naser Club.
Oman table tennis all set to compete in table tennis competitions from April 23 to 27, at Shabab Al Ahly Club hall in Duba. After they completed regular training at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher under the male coach, Omid Shams Shahrabaki, and female coach, Fatimia Keifani, which was focused on improving technical readiness and physical fitness.
Oman team will take part in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s teams, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles. The technical committee meeting will be held on April 23, during which the match schedule and technical regulations will be determined during the technical meeting on April 23.
National team includes six players: Ahmed bin Salem al Riyami, Ali bin Munir al Rawahi, Luqman bin Sultan al Farsi, Nasser bin Abdullah al Zaabi, Salma bint Yasser al Nasiriyah, and Taliyah bint Munir al Rawahiyah.

Athletics concludes with 11 medals
Oman national athletics team concluded their amazing competition with 11 medals, which was held at Dubai Police Officers over days from April 18 to 20.
On the first day (Thursday) of competitions, the athletic team won 3 medals, the first gold by Samar al Yarubi in the 150-meter race, the second gold by Ghaya al Saadia in 400-meter race, and third bronze medal by Ahmed al Jabri in the 500-meter race.
Athletics team also won 3 bronze medals on the second day (Friday), the first bronze was won by Kaltham al Jabriya in the shot put competition, second bronze was by Al Ayham al Fadili in high jump, and third bronze was by Azza al Hanaiya in the shot put competition.
On the third day (Saturday), Oman athletics claimed five medals, a gold medal in the discus throw by Kaltham al Jabriya. Moayed al Badri won bronze in 400-meter race, Azza al Hinei won bronze in 200-meter race, boys medley relay snatched bronze, as well as bronze for girls in medley relay.
Six medals for Paralympic
On the other hand Para Athletics completed their participation with 6 medales 3 golds, 2 silvers, and a bronze, as Faisal al Balushi won 2 golds, in 200 meters and long jump, and grabbed a silver medal in 100 meters. while Maryam al Badia won gold in long jump, a silver in 100-meter race, and a bronze in 200-meter race.
11 medals for taekwondo
The Oman taekwondo team concluded their participant with 11 medals at Fujerah during April 16 to 17.
Oman achieved five medals on the first day (Tuesday), including four gold and one silver. Dawood al Yousifi won gold in the 33-37 kg. Ziyad al Balushi won the second gold in 37-41 kg. Muhannad al Hajri claimed the third gold in 49-53 kg. Omani girl Dania al Abdali won the fourth gold in the 37-41 kg. Youssef al Zadjali won the silver in 45-49 kg,
Oman succeeded in winning sis medal six on the second day (Wednesday). Shahnaz al Maawali won first gold in the 44 kg. Al Ezz al Maawali claimed gold in 68 kg. Qaboos al Balushi won a silver in 68 kg. Fida al Barwani won gold in 52 kg. Hind al Balushi took silver. Abdulrahman al Jabri earned a gold.
