Ahmed Al Rahbi claims RAPID chess silver medal

Oman delegation take part in opening ceremony in Dubai Opera

Ahmed bin Bader al Rahbi snatched gold medal in rabid U-18, at the conclusion of shess competition on Monday night which continued for five days, As part of the first edition of GCC Youth Game from April 16 to May 2.

Oman chees farewell the tournament with four medals, as previously snatched three medals in team rapid category, a silver in femal U-14, a bronze in femal U-18 and bronze in male U-18.

 

Ruqaya bint Abdullah al Balushi.  Admin in chess delegation, explained, “The national team opened the  participation immediately upon its arrival UAE, due to the weather conditions, so the results was modest om first day, after which the team compensated with three medals the next day”.

“The achievement is consider excellent due to the first  and second participants for most omani players, to prepare them internationally”, she added.

“We thank Oman Committee for all efforts made to overcome the difficulties, also we thank the Organizing Committee for professional handling”.

 

 

Oman delegation will take part in the official opening ceremony of the tournament in Dubai Opera on Tuesday. In presence of HE Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said, Vice President of the Oman Olympic Committee, Taha bin Sulaiman al Kushari, Secretary General of the Oman Olympic Committee, Qais bin Saud al Zakwani, member of the Board of Directors of the Committee, Lujaina bint Mohsen Haider Darwish, member of the committee, Sanaa bin Hamad al Busaidiyah, Chairperson of the Oman Committee for Women’s Sports and Gender Equality, and Kadhim al Balushi, Director of the Mission.

 

Oman youth volleyball team lost its third match against Qatar team in three rounds to no avail, with a score of 25-16, 25-23, 25-15, in the match that took place  Al Nasr Club hall in Dubai. Oman had three losses previously, as lost to the UAE and Kuwaiti teams.

National team was excluded from the tournament despite of two matches are remaining , as  will face Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, and will conclude the participants against Bahrain on Thursday.

 

On the other hand, Oman national youth handball team stumbled against Kuwaiti when it lost 36-28 in the third match that was held at  Al Bataeh Cultural Club hall in Sharjah. Omani players, led by the distinguished Al Mamoun al Hassani, sought to keep up with the Kuwaiti team, but the oponent was more prepared since first half which was ended  by Kuwait lead 20-15.

National team chances are going on to reach the podium, as they have three points from first test again UAE. Oman will face Qatar on Wednesday, and in the  conclusion will take Bahrain team on Friday.

 

Oman table tennis all set to compete in table tennis competitions from April 23 to 27, at Shabab Al Ahly Club hall in Duba. Under the male coach, Omid Shams Shahrabaki, and female coach, Fatimia Keifani. While team includes: Ahmed al Riyami, Ali al Rawahi, Luqman al Farsi, Nasser al Zaabi, Salma al Nasiriyah, and Taliyah al Rawahiyah.

 

National cycling team will began the competitions today morning competing individual and team games which will continue until April 27 in Abu Dhabi.

 

Oman under-17 football team looking for three points in the third match against Bahrain on late time of Monaday at Al Nahyan Stadium in Al Wahda club in Abu Dhabi, as part of the football competitions during April 17 to 22.
