The physical activity and community health course concludes

 

The physical activity and community health course organized by Oman Olympic Academy (OOA) for 3 days, coinciding with Oman Physical Activity Day which falls on the second of October of each year, concludes yesterday evening under the patronage of Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Ameri, Director General of Sports Activities at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth with the presence of the executive management of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) and the participants in the course.

The course aimed to introduce and empower participants with theoretical knowledge about the physical activity promotion program, and provide them with the appropriate information and skills to be able to communicate the correct information to community members by understanding the relationship between physical activity and the health of community members. In addition to identifying the benefits of healthy and unhealthy physical activity, as well as knowing the best investments To enhance physical activity. The course also aimed to familiarize participants with the prevalence rates of physical inactivity in Oman and the world. It also aims to review global recommendations for its practice according to age groups, as well as the challenges that prevent its practice, in addition to developing a short-term action plan for some interventions that enhance physical activity, each according to its specialization.

The course targeted specialists and workers in the health and physical fields from OOC, Oman Sports Medicine and Anti-Doping Committee, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, Sultan Qaboos University and other relevant authorities. It was presented by Dr. Huda bint Khalfan Al Siyabi, Senior Consultant in Public Health – Director The Department of Community Health Initiatives in the Ministry of Health; Where she presented theoretical and practical lectures on the concepts of physical activity, its benefits, the challenges that prevent physical activity, and ways to enhance physical activity through knowledge of the role of the individual and the role of institutions, in addition to lack of physical activity as a risk factor for non-communicable diseases, and the recommendations of the World Health Organization for exercising Physical activity by age groups, and the best investments to promote physical activity in the community.
