Election of members of OAC

 

 

Oman Athletes Committee (OAC) General Assembly recommended Fatima Al Nabhani and Hamad Al Khatri as representatives in the General Assembly of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), and 7 athletes were elected to the membership of OAC for the electoral cycle 1 + 2020 to 2024, in the meeting of the General Assembly, which was held today in the presence of Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry, OOC Secretary General.

The Secretary General delivered a speech in which he stressed that the General Assembly of Athletes meeting in its current situation gives a wider scope for athletes to choose their representatives in the committee to convey their ideas and aspirations for the benefit of athletes and Oman sports.

Asaad bin Mubarak Al-Hassani, OAC Chairman, delivered a speech in which he indicated that one of the most important goals that the Committee seeks to achieve is to represent the rights and interests of athletes, make relevant recommendations, and communicate athletes’ views on the decisions taken by the sports federations and OOC. It also spreads the Olympic sports culture among athletes, as well as spreading awareness and laws related to athletes issued by OOC and IOC.

After that, the elections ceremonies were held and the representatives of the athletes’ committee were chosen. The committee announced the new amendments to the election law and officially announced Fatima bint Talib Al Nabhani from Oman Tennis Federation and Hamad bin Saeed Al Khateri from Oman Shooting Association by acclamation as the athletes’ representatives in OOC.

After that, a member of Oman Football Association was elected as a member of Nasser bin Hamdan Al-Riyami after obtaining 26 votes. The representative of Oman Athletics Association, Buthaina bint Eid Al-Yacoubiya, won by acclamation after Jihad bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh announced his withdrawal from the candidacy race. By acclamation also won, Representatives of the federations: Asaad bin Mubarak Al-Hasani, representative of Oman Basketball Association, Ahmed bin Nasser Al Darmaki, representative of Oman Handball Association, Khalid bin Talib Al Nabhani, representative of Oman Tennis Association, Ahmed bin Khamis Al Kulaibi, representative of Oman Swimming Association, and Khalifa bin Hamad Al Jabri, representative of Oman volleyball Federation.
