OOC celebrate Olympic Day in Musandam

 

More than 350 citizens and residents participated in the activities of the Olympic Day 2021 organized by Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) represented by Oman Sports and Active Society Committee in Musandam Governorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth represented by the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in Musandam Governorate. The activities and events were held on Bassa beach in the Wilayat of Khasab under the patronage of His Excellency Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Musandam, and in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Humaid Al Harthy, Wali of Khasab, Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry, OOC Secretary General, Dr. Farid bin Khamis Al Zadjali, OOC Board Member, a number of members of Oman Sports and Active Society Committee, officials of government and private institutions, representatives of clubs in the governorate, and a group of citizens and residents of the Willayat.

The event included many games and various sports activities such as walking, swimming, weightlifting, football, tug of war, dome game, competitions for children, and the participation of a local folklore troupe in this event.

His Excellency honored the first places in various sports competitions with many prizes and rewards were distributed to the participants in this sports gathering, which witnessed wide participation of citizens and high competition in the games and great cooperation from governmental and private institutions in the governorate with OOC, which contribute to the success of this major sporting event after a two-year hiatus from sporting activities due to the pandemic.

His Excellency Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Minister of State and Governor of Musandam met in his office with OOC Secretary General Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry and Dr. Farid bin Khamis Al Zadjali, OOC Board Member and members of Oman Sports and Active Society Committee. This major sports event, such as beach sports and traditional games, is unique to the province. It was also emphasized during the meeting the importance of including some programs and events held by the committee in the governorate due to its civilized and natural elements, especially as it contributes to attracting investments and an economic tributary by bringing some sports and holding international marathons in it and attracting the largest segment of different countries of the world and focusing on establishing some Sports events for women in Musandam.

It is worth noting that the National Olympic Committees celebrate the Olympic Day on June 23 of each year – the anniversary of the founding of International Olympic Committee (IOC) – under the slogan “Move, Learn, Discover” to promote public participation in various sports, and make sports a way of life in their public lives and not in the competitive field only by spreading the concept of (sports for all) and the principles and values ​​of the Olympic Movement among the different groups of society such as fair play, respect for others and balance between mind and body, and encouraging and supporting programs that aim to mix sports with culture and education.
