Oman raise medals tally to 12 at GCC Youth Games
The Sultanate of Oman raised its tally to 12 medals, gold and silver, after the conclusion of the second day of the first GCC Youth Games, which held in UAE from April 16 to May 2, with participation of more than 3,500 male and female athletes competing in 24 games.
Taekwondo team’s medals came with Shahnaz al Ma’awali snatched a gold medal in the 44 kg competition after defeating Saudi Arabia’s Seyouf Hassan. Al Ezz al Ma’awali claimed a gold medal in the 68 kg weight after defeating Kuwaiti Othman Faris. Qaboos al Balushi won a silver in the 68 kg weight after losing to the Emirati Mohammed Khaled. Fida al Barwaniya ranked a gold in the 52 weight category. Hind al Balushi achieved silver medal after loss for Saudi Amam Abdullah. And the great ending with a gold medal for Abdulrahman Al Jabri.
Oman teams succeeded in winning 7 medals on the second day. Oman sailing team won a gold medal in the team category in the Aptamos game, while Taekwondo team was able to win 6 medals on the second day after the Taekwondo players began collecting five medals in the first day, four golds and a silver.
OmanU-17 national football team defeated the host UAE with two goals in the opening of the football competition. The first goal of the match was scored by Osama al Maamari in the 59th minute, and his colleague Ibrahim al Tamimi scored the second goal in the 84th minute.
Omani sailors team snatched the gold medal in the team competition for the Apmos category yesterday, at the opening day on the waters of the Abu Dhabi Sailing Club, where the competition witnesses the participation of four Gulf teams in various categories.
After an exciting competition witnessed by the race, Oman sailors won a gold medal, which lasted for more than an hour in winds that were good for all seas. The team was able to win in the first round against the Qatari team, then faced the Emirati team in the final round. Oman sailors were able to win all the rounds to won the gold medal, the Emirati team won the silver medal, and the Qatari team won the bronze medal.
Our team was represented in the Aptomos competition by sailors Tamim al Balushi, Hood al Nofali, Tarteel al Hassaniya, Mohammed al Qasimi, and Khamis al Mashaykhi. While Alka 4 represented by the sailors Abdullatif al Qasimi, Firas al Hashimi. and Alka 6 represented by the sailors Hatem al Araimi and Elias al Fadhili.
Today, the Aptomos class competitions continue, with a number of Oman sailors participating in the individual competitions.
The delegation of Oman national junior handball team arrives UAE yesterday, The technical meeting for the competition will be held today, during which the schedule of matches that will start on Friday will be approved.
Handball delegation consists of consisting of Anwar al Balushi, the team manager, Ahmed al Jasasi, an administrator, Hassan al Maamari, in addition to 18 players, namely Issam al Balushi, Saeed al Hassani, and Ghassan al Mashari, Fahd al Mashari, Waleed al Balushi, Luay al Sulaimani, Wahhaj al Balushi, Umair al Balushi, Maitham al Owaisi, Ali al Hassani, Ali al Hassani, Al Mamoun al Hassani, Mohammed al Hassani, al Khattab al Hassani, Ziyad al Hassani, Fatak al Balushi, and Issa al Sharqi.

Also, athletic competition was postponement due to weather conditions, which was scheduled to begin yesterday.
