With broad GCC participation
Workshops and interactive sessions at the GCC Women’s Sports Hackathon
Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by Oman Women’s Sports and Gender Equality Committee, is organizing the “GCC Women’s Sports Hackathon” event during the period from 2 to 3 March next in Muscat, within the framework of enhancing the role of women in the field of sports and empowering them in this field, in addition to exchanging knowledge between the GCC countries to enhance sports culture in the region.
During the program, 4 workshops will be organized and presented by specialists and experts in women’s sports programs and the development of creative ideas, represented by a workshop on promoting community sports for women and its sustainability, a workshop on the role of technology in promoting GCC women’s sports, and a workshop on sustainable sports investment opportunities, in addition to a workshop on sustainable sports initiatives and programs presented by them.
The event program will also include a number of group sessions for participants with the assistance of specialized mentors, in addition to motivational meetings with some inspiring players. The hackathon is expected to witness wide participation from the GCC countries, as all participants will be divided after screening into 7 groups with the aim of presenting an idea or an implementable proposal in the field of women’s sports, and the winning project will be announced at the closing ceremony that will be held next Sunday.
Regarding the event, Sayida Sana Hamad Al Busaidi, Chairwoman of Oman Women’s Sports and Gender Equality Committee, said: “The GCC Women’s Sports Hackathon is a specialized program under the slogan (Active and Sustainable Society) that includes several workshops and group sessions, and aims to build culture and public awareness in the field of women’s sports, and to empower the capabilities and build the necessary skills for the participants.” In addition to transforming ideas into implementable projects and initiatives, and finding solutions to the existing challenges in the field of Gulf women’s sports.”
She added: “The hackathon will provide the opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, ideas and projects in the field of women’s sports, and develop their skills through practical workshops and interactive sessions. It will also give them the opportunity to learn about the best practices and innovations in this field.”
Sayida Sanaa Al Busaidi indicated that the program proposal was submitted by Oman, represented by the Oman Women’s Sports and Gender Equality Committee, at the 2nd GCC Women’s Sports Advisory Committee meeting, which was held in Muscat last October, and it was approved after it was presented at 35th GCC OOCs meeting.
She added: “The hackathon event is characterized by organizing specialized workshops aimed at enhancing knowledge and developing skills in the field of women’s sports. The trainers were carefully selected to present these workshops, as they have extensive experience in their fields and are highly competent in presenting the content in a specialized and useful manner.” She continued her speech: “The objectives of the workshops vary according to the specializations presented, as the workshop on promoting women’s community sports and its sustainability seeks to encourage women’s participation in sports activities and motivate society to support and continue them. While the workshop on the role of technology in promoting GCC women’s sports focuses on how to use technology to empower women in Practice sports and improve their performance. The sustainable sports investment opportunities workshop aims to explore investment opportunities in the field of women’s sports and support sustainable projects in this regard. As for the sustainable sports initiatives and programs workshop, it focuses on developing programs and initiatives that contribute to enhancing women’s participation in various types of sports and ensuring their sustainability at all times. the long term”. She added: “We are confident that these workshops will provide rich and effective content that contributes to achieving the event’s objectives in a distinguished manner and contributes to enhancing the role of women in the field of GCC sports.”
