Shooter Khatri finish in 35th place with a 1148 points
Oman delegation ended campaign at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics
Oman’s Hamed al Khatri registered a total of 1148 (382- kneeling, 392-prone, 374-standing) to finish 35th place among the 39 world ranking shooters in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions qualifications event on Monday at Asaka Shooting Range.
The top eight shooters got highest score in the qualification round and advanced to the finals which was occurred late on Monday. The first place went to Sergey Kamenskiy (ROC) at 1183 points with preference than Shooter Changhong Zhang (CHN) who finished as runner up with a total of 1183 points while shooter Jon-Herman (NOR) ended in third place with a total of 1181 points. Sebic Milenko (SRB) advanced as he placed fourth with 1180 points. Miran Marcic (CRO) earned direct ticket to finals as he positioned in fifth with 1178 points while Serjiy Kulish (UKR) finished in sixth place with 1178 points. The seventh qualifier was Petar Gorsa (CRO)with a 1176 point while Yury (BLR) took the last ticket to the eighth place to finals with a 1176 points as well. In his previous attendance at Rio 2016 Olympics, Khatri had recorded a total of 1,138 and finished in 43rd place.
Confidence
Post the event, shooter Hamed al Khatri said that it was an accumulative experience for him to attend in Olympic Games. “ The lesson I learned is confidence and having more ability to do best in the forthcoming events. Striving for the top positions is the target and I will continue in my hard training to reach to the top levels.,” he added.
“ I aimed to qualify into the finals but it was pretty difficult as many of the world ranking shooters took part and registered highest scores. Also, it was too windy. I will work to enhance and develop my weakness areas and focus on having quality shots with highest scores,” he ended.
Campaign ended
With completion of kahtri’s participation, the Sultanate’s ended their campaign at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Five athletes represented the Sultanate and competed in four different disciplines. swimmer Issa Al al Adawi began the campaign as he placed in sixth place with a timing of 51:81 in the 100 meters freestyle. Sprinter Mazoon Al alawi finished sixth in the100m race event with a timing of 12:35 seconds. Oman’s top sprinter Barakat al Harthy advanced to Round one of the Men’s 100 m race event in Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. He topped preliminary heat two group and clocked 10:27 seconds as his seasonal best record. In the round One qualification heat five of Men’s 100 m race event, Barkat clocked 10:31 seconds in seventh place.

Kazem pointed out that everyone were looking for the top results from our athletes. “ I believe all the sporting associations and committee have to learn from the mistakes and weakness of this participation. Also, they have to set long term plans and proper strategies to ensure registering top results in the forthcoming international events,” he ended.
