Oman Handball Association

 

 

Handball began to be introduced to some clubs in the Sultanate in 1980 by some players after returning from their studies abroad, as well as some teachers of physical education in schools and through them the game of handball was born in the Sultanate.

 

Oman Handball Association was declared by Ministerial Resolution No. 41/88 dated May 26, 1988 and assumed the presidency of its first board of directors Ahmed bin Ali bin Rajab, and joined the membership of the International Federation in 1982 and the membership of the AFC in 1982 and the membership of the Arab Federation in 1982.

 

The Association annually organizes a number of competitions and events, including the Sultanate’s General League for clubs (first, second and third level), the Beach Handball Championship, the Ministry of Sports Affairs’s Shield, and the Youth and Junior Championships in the governorates.

Programs and activities:

 

The Association annually organizes a number of competitions and events, including the Sultanate’s General League for clubs (first, second and third level), the Beach Handball Championship, the Junior and Youth Championships in the governorates and regions of the Sultanate.

  1. The Sultanate’s General League for the second degree.

 

  1. Junior and Youth League.

 

  1. Handball League for Girls.

 

  1. Holding courses for coaches and referees.

 

  1. Participation in the meetings and conferences held by the International, Asian and Arab Federations and the Organizing Committee to discuss and develop the game.

 

Achievements:

  • The junior team won the second place in the GCC Championship, which was held in Doha in 1997.
  • The first national handball team won first place in the Al-Fajr International Championship in 1998 in Iran.
  • Winning second place in the same tournament in 1999.
  • The national youth team won first place in the Arab Youth Championship, which was held in Syria in 2000.
  • Winning second place in the beach championship organized by the Oman Handball Association in Muscat in 2004.
  • Participation in the World Cup, which was held in Egypt in 2004.
  • The national handball team won second place in the games accompanying the Nineteenth Arabian Gulf Cup in Muscat.
  • Oman Beach Handball team won third place in the first GCC beach games, which were held in the Bahrain during the period from 10-17 October 2010.
  • The National Beach Handball Team achieved second place in the Asian Beach Handball Championship, which was held in the Sultanate during the period from 1 – 6/10/2011.
  • The eighth position of the national beach handball team participating in the 2012 World Championships.
  • The National Beach Handball Team achieved second place in the Asian Beach Championship, which was held in Hong Kong during the period from May 8-16, 2013.
  • The national handball team achieved second place in the Asian Beach Games, which was held in Thailand during the period from 14 to 23 November 2014.
  • The National Beach Handball Team won second place in the Second GCC Beach Games, which was held in Qatar during the period from April 2 to 9, 2015.
  • The National Beach Handball Team won second place in the Fifth Asian Handball Championship for Men and Women, which was held in Oman during the period from 1 to 7 May 2015.
  • The national handball team won the third place in the Second GGC Sports Games, which was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 16 to 22 October 2015.
  • The National Beach Handball Team won the second place in the Fifth Asian Beach Games, which was held in Vietnam during the period from 9/3/10/2016.
  • The National Beach Handball Team won second place in the Sixth Asian Beach Handball Championship, World Cup Russia Qualifiers, which were held in Thailand-Pattaya during the period from 5-12 / 5/2017.
  • The National Beach Handball team achieved second place in the 7th Asian Beach Handball Championship, which was held in China from 15-24 / 6/2019.
