Omani teams continue their presence at “Islamic Solidarity Games Riyadh 2025
The Omani sports delegation continues its active participation in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, amid intense competition and broad participation from leading athletes across the Islamic world. Saturday’s events saw Omani presence in taekwondo, along with administrative meetings and motivational sessions that contributed to greater harmony within the delegation, while teams continue their preparations for major challenges in the coming days.
Al-Touqi opens with victory, then exits against the World Vice-Champion… Al-Hinai falls in her bout
Oman’s national taekwondo athlete, Nibras Al-Touqi, delivered a commendable performance, winning his opening match against Afghanistan’s Rahimi to secure a place in a tough encounter against Uzbekistan’s Qodiberdiyev, the world vice-champion. Al-Touqi ultimately lost the match and concluded his participation in the tournament.
Commenting on his performance, Nibras said: “I gave everything I had. I won the first match, which was difficult against a strong opponent, then faced the world vice-champion who had qualified directly to this round, and I couldn’t get past him. The future is ahead of me, and I hope to deliver better performances in upcoming championships.”
Meanwhile, Omyma Al-Hinai said: “I faced a more experienced opponent, yet I tried my best but couldn’t overcome her. I gained valuable experience and aim to achieve better results in future competitions.”
In the women’s events, Omyma Al-Hinai lost her match to Morocco’s Touzana, exiting the taekwondo competition.
Athletics events will begin on Monday at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Al-Malaz.
Bamkhalaf and Al-Balushi motivate athletics and para-athletics athletes
Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamkhalaf, Secretary-General of OOC, and Musa bin Khamis Al-Balushi, Deputy Head of the Delegation, met with the athletics and para-athletics teams. They expressed the committee’s confidence in the athletes’ ability to achieve positive results and emphasized the importance of capitalizing on this major participation to enhance readiness and bring home medals for Oman during these cherished national days.
Salem Al-Busaidi: Logistics were the cornerstone of the delegation’s success
Salim bin Mohammed Al-Busaidi,Chef de Mission and Director of Preparation and Logistics, affirmed that the delegation’s participation was meticulously organized and ran smoothly thanks to cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, OOC, and the Embassy of Oman.
He explained that logistical efforts included travel arrangements, securing suitable accommodation, facilitating team transportation, and providing technical and medical support.
He added: “The athletes gained greater confidence and an improved ability to manage competition, and we will build on these experiences in future events.”
Al-Harrasi: A participation that grants our athletes deeper experience and insight
Saeed bin Juma Al-Harrasi, Deputy Chef de Mission, stated that the Islamic Solidarity Games offered athletes a golden opportunity to compete with top players from various Islamic countries, helping enhance their mental and technical readiness.
Al-Harrasi praised the strong cooperation among official and sports entities and the exceptional organizational atmosphere provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure an outstanding edition of the Games.
Al-Jarjashi: Cooperation among official entities eased our mission and strengthened discipline
Administrative officer Saeed bin Darwish Al-Jarjashi, a member of the administration and logistics team, highlighted that administrative work for the Games required a high level of preparation due to the participation of more than 57 countries.
He noted that cooperation between OOC, the ministry, and the Embassy of Oman facilitated all tasks, while athletes showed great commitment and discipline, enabling the administrative team to implement plans with precision and flexibility.
He concluded: “This participation has given us new experiences that we will build on in the future.”
Omani teams continue to deliver positive performances at “Riyadh 2025” despite strong competition, supported by clear administrative and logistical efforts to ensure an ideal environment for athletes—enhancing their chances of achieving stronger results in the coming days of the Games.
