Al-Khanjari grants Oman its first medals with silver and bronze in weightlifting at Riyadh 2025
Omani weightlifter Amer Al-Khanjari secured two valuable medals for the Sultanate of Oman in the 88 kg weightlifting category at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games – Riyadh 2025, after an impressive performance that earned him the silver medal in the clean and jerk event, followed by the bronze medal in the total. His remarkable showing came amid fierce competition featuring some of the best lifters from across the Islamic world.
The medal ceremony took place at the Boulevard SEF Arena in Riyadh, where Al-Khanjari finished with a total of 354 points, trailing behind Uzbekistan’s Sarvar Zavarganov, who claimed gold with 363 points, and Iran’s Elia Salehi Pour, who took silver with 359 points.
The national team’s coaching staff praised Al-Khanjari’s outstanding performance, emphasizing that this achievement reflects the steady progress of weightlifting in Oman and strengthens its presence on the continental and international stage.
