Injury sidelines Elias Al Busaidi from weightlifting competition, Al Khinjari takes on the challenge today

Upon the recommendation of the medical team, Omani weightlifter Elias Al Busaidi was forced to withdraw from the weightlifting competition at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games – Riyadh 2025, after sustaining a sudden injury while attempting to lift 124 kilograms in the 65 kg category. The injury prompted his withdrawal from the event to ensure his safety, amid strong support and encouragement from his teammates and members of the Omani delegation.

Meanwhile, Omani weightlifter Amer Al Khinjari is set to compete today in the 88 kg category, where he hopes to make up for his teammate’s unfortunate exit and achieve a positive result that will strengthen Oman’s presence in the weightlifting competition.

Official visit and continued support for the Omani delegation

His Excellency Sayyid Najib bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, paid an official visit to the delegation’s headquarters and the Athletes’ Village. He was received by H.E. Professor Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Head of Oman’s delegation to the Games. During the visit, His Excellency reviewed the facilities and services provided to participating delegations and toured the Media Center in the Village, where he observed the technical and organizational arrangements offered by the organizing committee.

In his meeting with the Omani weightlifting team and their technical staff, His Excellency urged everyone to give their utmost effort and deliver strong performances that reflect the progress of Omani sports. He emphasized that participating in such a major Islamic event is both a national responsibility and an opportunity to showcase the technical capabilities of Oman’s young athletes.

The Omani delegation continues to receive close attention and constant support from its officials and administrators, who are present across the various competition venues to encourage the athletes and monitor their readiness.
