Oman Olympic Committee Announces Participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games with Eight Sports

 

Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) has announced its participation in the 6th edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025. The Sultanate will compete in eight sports: weightlifting, aquatic sports, esports, karate, taekwondo, athletics, para-athletics, and fencing.

This participation reflects the Committee’s commitment to supporting the objectives of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation and enhancing Oman’s presence in this significant sporting event, which embodies the values of brotherhood and cooperation among athletes from Islamic countries. The Games also offer national teams valuable opportunities to gain experience and strengthen their sporting performance.

OOC confirmed that all administrative and logistical preparations for participation have been completed, including the registration of teams, officials, coaches, and athletes, as well as the provision of logistical, medical, and media support to ensure optimal participation in all competitions.

The official Omani delegation will be headed by H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Vice President of Oman Olympic Committee, accompanied by Musa bin Khamis Al Balushi, Deputy Head of Mission, and Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamkhallaf, Secretary General of OOC. The administrative team includes Salem bin Mohammed Al Busaidi (Chef de Mission), Saeed bin Jumaa Al Harrasi (Deputy Chef de Mission), Saeed bin Darwish Al Jarjashi (Team Administrator), media representative Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Salmani, photographer Marwan bin Nabil Al Yaqoubi, team doctor Mohammed bin Nabil Lobani, and physiotherapist Amir bin Said Al Salti.

Weightlifting
The national weightlifting team includes Elias bin Tamim Al Busaidi (71 kg) and Amer bin Salem Al Khinjari (88 kg), under the supervision of coach Ahmed Saad Zakaria and team manager Yousuf bin Saeed Al Hasani.

Aquatic Sports

The national swimming team comprises Mishal bin Salem Al Kalibi, competing in the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 100m butterfly, and Mohammed bin Khamis Al Wahibi, competing in the 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle, 50m freestyle, and 50m backstroke. The team is led by coach Mohammed bin Alia Al Sahli and team manager Ahmed bin Ali Al Marhoon.

Esports
The esports team includes players Abdullah bin Badr Al Amri, Sultan bin Kamran Al Balushi, and Amjad bin Waleed Al Zadjali, competing in Rocket League, with coach Abdullah bin Nasser Al Ateeqi and team manager Hamad bin Yaqoub Al Jahwari.

Karate
The karate team is represented by player Idris bin Ali Al Batrani (60 kg), coached by Ali bin Saeed Al Shibeibi.

Taekwondo
The taekwondo delegation includes coach Adel bin Khalifa Al Wahibi and team manager Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Kathiri, alongside players Nibras bin Mohammed Al Tuwqi (54 kg) and Omeima bint Harib Al Hinai (46 kg).

Athletics
The athletics team features athletes Ali bin Anwar Al Balushi, Mulham bin Darwish Al Balushi, Fatak bin Abdulghafour Bait Jaaboub, Mohammed bin Hamdan Al Suleimani, Rashid bin Hweishil Al Asmi, Fatak bin Adnan Bait Qaisan, and Mohammed bin Ubaid Al Saadi. The team is supervised by coaches Imad Mohammed Shawqi Siraj and Fahad bin Khalfan Al Mashaykhi, and managed by Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Dhuhouri. The athletes will compete in the 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 4x100m relay, and high jump events.

Para-Athletics
The para-athletics team is represented by athlete Taha bin Abdullah Al Harrasi, competing in the men’s 100m T37 event, under the supervision of team official Adnan bin Mubarak Al Owaidi.

Fencing
The fencing team includes male athletes Said bin Khalid Al Shu’aibi, Ahmed bin Anwar Kaskas, Al Harith bin Salem Al Harithi, and Ali bin Hamad Al Busaidi, as well as female athletes Israa bint Saif Al Siyabi, Jana bint Mohammed Al Sharji, Salma bint Saeed Al Daghishi, and Ghazal bint Yousuf Al Fliti. The team is led by coaches Hisham bin Ali Karchoud and Abdulrahman Adel Farouk Ahmed, and managed by Badr bin Saeed Al Shu’aibi. The team will compete in both foil and épée events for men and women, in individual and team categories.

Promoting Sports

H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Vice President of Oman Olympic Committee and Head of the Omani Delegation to the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, stated that Oman’s participation reflects the Committee’s firm commitment to supporting and promoting Omani sports at all levels. It also aims to prepare athletes for international competitions through exposure to high-level competitive environments that foster experience and growth.

He emphasized that the Committee has ensured all administrative, technical, medical, and media resources are in place to enable a positive and well-organized participation, allowing athletes to focus on achieving their best performance. These efforts, he added, align with the Committee’s broader strategy to enhance the readiness and performance of national teams for upcoming regional and international events.

Valuable Experience

H.E. Dr. Ambusaidi further noted that the Islamic Solidarity Games serve as a distinguished platform to strengthen cooperation and understanding among Islamic nations, embodying the spirit of solidarity, unity, and brotherhood through sports. He highlighted that participation in such events provides athletes with invaluable opportunities to build professional and personal relationships with peers from other countries, broadening their perspectives and developing their skills.

He concluded by expressing confidence in the athletes’ ability to perform at their highest level and continue gaining experience throughout the competitions. He commended the efforts of all administrative members for their dedication to ensuring a smooth and professional representation of the national teams.

Riyadh 2025

The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025, marking the return of the Games to the Kingdom after it hosted the first edition in 2005 across Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif.

The event will bring together athletes from 57 countries, with more than 3,000 participants competing in 23 sports, including team and individual disciplines as well as para sports. These include athletics, para-athletics, weightlifting, swimming, para-swimming, futsal, handball, 3×3 basketball, indoor volleyball, taekwondo, karate, judo, muay thai, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, equestrian, jiu-jitsu, esports, wushu, duathlon, table tennis, and camel racing.

Competitions will be held across five main venues: Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City, Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex, Riyadh Boulevard City, Al Janadriyah, and the Sports Boulevard.

The organizing committee announced the official Games slogan, “One Nation,” symbolizing the unity and shared values of solidarity and cohesion among Islamic nations through sport. The opening ceremony will be held on November 7, followed by the closing ceremony on November 21, 2025.
