Oman’s Delegation Completes Administrative and Technical Arrangements for Training and Competition Venues

Arrival of Official Delegation and Four National Teams to Participate in the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, the official delegation of the Sultanate of Oman, along with three national teams, will arrive to participate in the third edition of the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain. The participating teams include Taekwondo, Athletics, and Equestrian. Earlier, the Golf team and the administrative delegation had already arrived. The remaining teams, Swimming and Esports, will arrive successively, three days before the start of their respective competitions.

The official delegation of Oman is headed by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education. Also accompanying the delegation are Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al-Hajri, Deputy Head of the Delegation, and Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamkhalef, Secretary-General of the Oman Olympic Committee. The Games are being hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from October 22 to 31, featuring competitions across 24 sports disciplines with 31 events, totaling 253 competitions for male, female, and mixed categories. Competitions are held at several modern sports facilities, including Isa Sports City, Khalifa Sports City, Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre, Endurance Village, and Sama Bay area.

Flag Raising Ceremony

On Tuesday evening, a welcoming ceremony will be held for all participating countries at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre, including the flag-raising ceremony. The Omani flag will be raised by Adam bin Masoud Al-Browani from the Golf team. During the official opening ceremony on Wednesday, the flag will be raised by Abdulaziz bin Fahad Al-Busaidi from the Equestrian team, accompanied by Fidaa bint Fouad Al-Browani from the Taekwondo team.

The Omani administrative delegation began its work last Friday, completing all arrangements for the arrival of national teams and attending meetings of team managers. The delegation includes Badr bin Ali Awlad Thani, Team Manager, Kadhim bin Khan Mohammed Al-Balushi, Assistant Team Manager, and Badria bint Mohammed Al-Balushi, Administrative Officer.

Team Manager: Full Readiness to Receive Teams and Ideal Competitive Environment
Badr bin Ali Awlad Thani, Team Manager of Oman’s delegation, stated:”All administrative and technical arrangements have been successfully coordinated and completed ahead of the national teams’ arrival to facilitate their participation and provide an ideal environment enabling athletes to focus on the competitions.”

He added that all necessary arrangements were taken to ensure the comfort of national teams and administrative and technical staff, including coordination with the Organizing Committee regarding accommodation, transportation, and logistics, along with daily follow-ups on the teams’ needs.

“Preparations also included designating training venues prior to the competitions, allowing teams to participate effectively and showcase Omani sports development. We highly appreciate the extensive support provided by the Organizing Committee, which greatly facilitated the delegation’s work,” he concluded.

Technical and Administrative Aspects

The Team Manager and Assistant Team Manager also participated in the Technical Committee meeting of team managers, reviewing all technical and administrative details of the participating countries. Discussions included food arrangements at hotels, transportation procedures, coordination between team officials and organizers, competition venues, training facilities, and services provided to National Olympic Committees.

Delegation Registration

The team officials also attended the delegation registration meeting, where team lists, events, and weight categories were confirmed. Accreditation cards were reviewed, hotels and rooms approved, and procedures for the flag-raising ceremony were explained.

National Teams Overview

Athletics: Represented by three youth athletes born in 2009: Raed bin Mohammed Al-Balushi (100m, 200m), Al-Yazan bin Rashid Al-Shamsi (800m), and Hamad bin Nasser Al-Riyami (2000m steeplechase). Technical and administrative staff include Ali bin Abdullah Al-Marzouqi (administrator), Ahmed bin Khamis Al-Siyabi (middle- and long-distance coach), Fahad bin Khalfan Al-Mushaikhi (sprint coach), and Ahmed bin Nasser Al-Wahaibi (physiotherapist).

Golf: Represented by three athletes born in 2008: Adam bin Masoud Al-Browani, Maher Nakil Sampath, and Branch bin Jobal Jagwani, competing in team and individual events. Staff include Ahmed bin Faisal Al-Jahdhami, Nakil Narendra Sampath (administrators), and Jonathan Bartlett (coach).

Esports: Represented in Rocket League by three athletes born in 2008: Sultan bin Kamran Al-Balushi, Mishari bin Ammar Al-Ajmi, and Abdullah bin Badr Al-Amri. Staff: Hamad bin Yaqoub Al-Jahouri (administrator) and Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Ateeqi (coach).

Swimming: Represented by Mohammed bin Khamis Al-Wahaibi (born 2009), competing in 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, and 50m butterfly. Staff: Abdulhafeez Rahmani Qawadri (coach).

Taekwondo: Represented by five athletes: Qaboos bin Said Al-Balushi (55kg, 2009), Ziad bin Waleed Al-Balushi (48kg, 2010), Al-Mu’tasim bin Ali Al-Maskari (63kg, 2009), Shehnaz bint Waheed Al-Ma’awliya (44kg, 2009), Fidaa bint Fouad Al-Browani (49kg, 2009). Staff: Talal bin Mohammed Al-Balushi (administrator), Adel bin Khalifa Al-Wahaibi (coach), Yusra bint Khamis Al-Shukriya (assistant).

Equestrian (Show Jumping): Represented by Abdulaziz bin Fahad Al-Busaidi (120cm individual, 110cm team), Taha bin Ziyad Al-Balushi (120cm individual, 110cm team), and Sara bint Suhail Al-Kathiriya (120cm individual, 110cm team). Staff: Mohammed bin Ali Al-Kalbani (administrator), Khalid bin Darwish Al-Subhi, Ziyad bin Ayoub Al-Balushi, Mahmoud bin Ayoub Al-Balushi, Masoud Akhtar (coaches). Guests: His Highness Sayyid Fahad bin Abdulaziz Al-Busaidi, Isa bin Abdulkhaleq Al-Maimani, Suhail bin Ibrahim Al-Kathiri, Anwar Abdulqader Salman.

The Asian Youth Games is one of the most prominent multi-sport continental events organized under the supervision of the Olympic Council of Asia, targeting athletes aged 14–18. It is held every two years, after several years of interruption, with the first edition hosted in Singapore and the second in China.
