Oman Olympic Academy Discusses Governance Challenges in Sports Amid Digital Transformation
The “Sports Institutions Governance in the Age of Digital Transformation” course, organized by Oman Olympic Academy at Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), commenced today morning (Monday). The program runs from September 29 to October 1, 2025, with the participation of candidates from various relevant sports sectors. The course comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen modern administrative practices and align them with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The importance of the course lies in highlighting governance principles as an essential requirement and indispensable pillar in the operation of sports institutions, particularly in light of the rapid developments brought about by digital transformation. It also aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to implement governance principles and address administrative, financial, and technical challenges facing sports organizations.
The course is delivered by Khalifa bin Saif Al-Issai, Advisor to Private Associations at the Office of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth Affairs. He presents a series of lectures, practical applications, and interactive discussions. The program is designed to combine academic and applied aspects, thereby enhancing participants’ ability to transfer knowledge and expertise into their respective work environments.
Key themes of the program include the concept, history, and principles of governance; tools used in its application; governance of institutions within the framework of Oman Vision 2040; insights and orientations of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in this area; and the strong connection between governance and digital transformation. Practical experiences in addressing challenges facing sports institutions in Oman are also featured.
The program further focuses on reviewing international and regional experiences in governance, enabling participants to compare and benefit from successful practices. It also provides space for dialogue, discussion, and the exchange of perspectives on the best approaches for implementing governance in Oman’s sports sector.
