The Oman Olympic Academy kicked off its three-day Sports Injuries and Athletic Rehabilitation Course yesterday, Monday. The program gathers specialists and professionals from various fields, including sports medicine, physiotherapy, and athletic training.

The course is designed to increase awareness and expertise in managing sports injuries. Participants explore the causes and types of injuries, prevention strategies, first-aid treatment, and comprehensive rehabilitation techniques, all aimed at safeguarding athletes and ensuring their continued performance.

Leading the sessions is Dr. Abdul Hameed bin Abdullah Al-Kitani, Assistant Professor of Physiotherapy at the College of Health Sciences, University of Nizwa. He covers a wide range of topics, from injury prevention and proper warm-up techniques to foot and footwear concerns, sports nutrition, physical and psychological recovery, and modern methods for assessing cruciate ligament injuries.

The program also includes hands-on practical exercises, such as foam rolling for muscle tension, stretching and flexibility routines, medical massage techniques, Achilles tendon taping, and cold-water recovery methods. These activities provide participants with direct experience in managing different types of sports injuries.

The course reflects the latest developments in sports medicine and prepares qualified professionals to respond quickly to injuries. It also emphasizes designing rehabilitation programs that help athletes return to the field in peak physical and mental condition.
