OOA organizes the specialized symposium (Designing training plans)


The specialized symposium “Designing Training Plans” will conclude this evening, Tuesday, organized by Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by Oman Olympic Academy (OOA), as part of the National Coach Certification Program to develop and enhance the capabilities of sports coaches in the Sultanate of Oman.


The symposium was held at Sultan Qaboos University and the headquarters of OOA during the period from 2 to 4 June of this year, and was presented by Dr. Shihab Al-Din bin Ahmed Al-Riyami, Director of the National Coach Certification Program and a certified international lecturer for sports training, with the participation of 26 coaches from federations, committees, sports clubs, and the military sports sector.


The symposium topics varied between the theoretical and practical aspects, with the aim of providing participants with various sciences and studies as an essential part of the program’s strategy to ensure the provision of high-quality training. It included many diverse topics and topics, including the goals, importance and design of sports training plans, time planning for training and its types, the main elements of its preparation, and annual plans and their sections. In addition to the temporal planning of motor abilities and anatomical adaptations to physical abilities. The symposium also included training on using the NCCP program to design seasonal training plans.


Today, the participants will present visual presentations to evaluate them and measure the extent of their understanding and knowledge during the days of the symposium, and a work and evaluation mechanism will be implemented for the symposium according to international standards and programmes.


The program aims to build a base of qualified trainers in the field of sports training, and gives the opportunity for coaches to participate in an educational program that gives them a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge and experience, develop their skills and will have a positive impact in enhancing the performance of athletes in the Sultanate of Oman and raising their technical levels.


It is worth mentioning that the National Coach Certification Program is one of the important national projects and a summary of the sports sciences that keep pace with the Omani society and the national training cadre. It is considered the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman and the second in the Arabian Gulf region. It is based on a balance between theoretical and scientific aspects in accordance with what is followed in the most recent successful international experiences, and is divided into two levels, the first level and the second level, in addition to specialized seminars.
