Oman’s admin delegation travel to Japan for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

Oman’s Chef-De -mission, Kazim al Balushi, will travel earlier on Sunday to Tokyo as the first member from the Sultanate’s delegation which will take part in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that will be held during July 23 until August 8. Kazim will travel ahead of the other members who will arrive in Japan later this week to attend the Olympic Games based to the set competition schedule.

The Sultanate will participate in the current edition of Tokyo Olympics with sporting delegation comprise of five athletes competing in four different sports. The athlete’s delegation will feature: Sprinters Barakat al Harthy and Mazoon Al alawi who will join in the 100 meters 100m race, swimmer Issa Al al Adawi in the 100 meters freestyle, shooter Hamed Al Khatri in the 50m rifle competitions 3 positions and the weightlifter Amer al Khanjari in the weightlifting competitions at weight of 81 kg category.

 

Chef De mission assignments

It is expected that Oman’s Chef De mission will arrive in the Olympic Village in Tokyo late on Monday night due to the long flight hours and one long stop transit in Doha. Al Balushi will begin his administrative tasks and duties upon his arrival in Tokyo to secure all the necessary administrative, logistical and health preparations for arrival of rest members of the Sultanate’s delegation including athletes and coaching staff. Kazim is updating all the sporting national teams with the recent circulations from organising  committee on the precautionary measures against Covid-19 coronavirus which are mandatory ahead of arrival in Tokyo to participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Moreover, the Sultanate’s chef De mission affirms to the heads of the national teams on necessity of uploading the documents including passports, results of PCR tests and vaccination certificate into the approved application in smartphone before the arrival of any members at Narita Airport in Tokyo.

The Domestic sports lovers are looking forward for a top show from the Sultanate athletes in the Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020 with high hopes and achieving honorable and advanced results in the showpiece event.  

The official Sultanate’s delegation will be led by Sayyid Khalid al Busaidi, OOC chairman, Taha al Kishry OOC secretary general, Oman’s chef-de-mission Kazim al Balushi, Ali al Ajmi, from OOC, Adil al Balushi, OOC media officer, Shuaib al Zadjali, anti-doping official, and Abdulmoneim al Alawi, FINA open water referee.

 

Playbook for athletes

Despite the fears and concerns due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, the organizer of Tokyo Olympics

and officials in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reassured all on holding a safe Olympic Games and implementing all health measures and precautionary measures that were mentioned in the guidance manual for athletes (Playbook). In the Playbooks, all the athletes and participants in the Olympics will know the basis of collective game plan that ensure all Olympic Games participants, the people of Tokyo and Japan are safe and healthy this summer.

Playbooks feature detailed explanations for athletes on the requirements to be followed before traveling, when entering Japan, during the competitions of the Games, and after leaving Japan. Wearing of the mask during all time in the Olympic Village is mandatory. Downloading OCHA application is a must and that will include updating your health including daily temperature and PCR test results. Besdie to that, Playbook addressed many precautionary measures including: Reducing contact with people, maintaining a distance of two meters while talking and strictly prohibiting the use of public transportation especially in the first two weeks since arrival to Japan.
