Oman Taekwondo Committee

 

Taekwondo is a popular sport among the youth in the Sultanate and has seen significant development in recent years, contributing to the spread of the game. Our national teams have participated in numerous competitions at the global, Arab, and Gulf levels, achieving positive results. Notably, athlete Fahad Al-Mamari won a gold medal at the GCC level and achieved an advanced world ranking, finishing in twelfth place. Additionally, team member Yousra Al-Shoukri secured a gold medal in both the fourth and 5th GCC championships, and our athletes have earned many medals in international competitions.

Objectives of Oman Taekwondo Committee:

1. Promote the sport in Oman.
2. Engage the youth in beneficial activities that foster a healthy and athletic lifestyle.
3. Enhance the skills of practitioners of the sport.
4. Strive to achieve advanced positions at regional, Arab, and international levels.
5. Focus on training referees and honing their skills through workshops and training sessions.

 

International Participation:

Best Fighting Spirit Award at the National Taekwondo Team at the World Championship in Mexico 2014:
The national team won the Best Fighting Spirit Award at the 9th World Taekwondo Championship held in Mexico from October 30 to November 3, 2014. The team included Fahd Hamdan Al-Mamari and Said bin Zayed Al-Mahrami, with Fahd Al-Mamari achieving twelfth place in the world in the (Poomsae) competition.

 

Fourth Gulf Taekwondo Championship:
The national team achieved commendable results at the 5th GCC Taekwondo Championship for sparring (Kyorugi) and the first for the performance competition (Poomsae), held in Bahrain from November 5 to November 10, 2014. The team secured five colored medals and a fair play trophy:
– Gold medal: Kamal Ahmed Al-Busaidi (Poomsae)
– Silver medal: Sabra Musa Al-Sultiah (Kyorugi)
– Bronze medal: Said Zayed Al-Mahrami (Kyorugi)
– Bronze medal: Adel Khalifa Al-Wahibi (Kyorugi)
– Bronze medal: Salem Abdullah Al-Waili (Kyorugi)

 

4th Women’s Sports Games of the GCC in Muscat:

The national taekwondo team achieved impressive results at the Fourth Women’s Sports Games held in Muscat from March 8 to March 18, 2015, securing one gold medal, three silver medals, and three bronze medals:
1. Gold medal: Yousra Khamis Al-Shoukri (under 53 kg)
2. Silver medal: Riam Zaid (under 67 kg)
3. Silver medal: Nour Ramadan (under 62 kg)
4. Silver medal: Zawan Zaid (under 57 kg)
5. Bronze medal: Radia Mohammed Ali (under 49 kg)
6. Bronze medal: Amani Khalifa Ali (under 73 kg)
7. Bronze medal: Manar Mahmoud Al-Zadjaliyah (under 47 kg)

 

6th Asian Taekwondo Club Championship:
The national team achieved commendable results at the Sixth Asian Taekwondo Club Championship held in Sharjah, UAE, from February 18 to February 20, 2016, with participation from 28 countries:
– Silver medal: Manar Mahmoud Al-Zadjaliyah (Kyorugi)
– Silver medal: Sabra Musa Al-Sultiah (Kyorugi)

 

Second Qatar Open International Taekwondo Championship:
The national team performed well at the Second Qatar Open International Taekwondo Championship held from March 12 to March 15, 2016, with 30 participating countries and over 400 athletes. The national team secured three colored medals:
– Gold medal: Fahd Hamdan Al-Mamari (Poomsae)
– Silver medal: Kamal Ahmed Al-Busaidi (Poomsae)
– Silver medal: Adel Khalifa Al-Wahibi (Kyorugi)

 

Referee Updates for Taekwondo in Oman:

The committee is committed to updating referees in the Sultanate and training new referees for taekwondo. Among the international referees from Oman are:
1. Dr. Khalid Zayed Al-Mahrami (International referee in Kyorugi and Poomsae)
2. Rashid Hlaise Al-Hashimi (International referee in Kyorugi)
3. Jassim Mohammed Al-Rashdi (International referee in Poomsae)

 

Fifth GCC Women’s Sports Games of in Doha:
The national team achieved notable results at the Fifth Women’s Sports Games held in Doha, Qatar, from March 7 to March 17, 2017, winning one silver medal and three bronze medals:
1. Silver medal: Sumaya Al-Rashidi (over 67 kg)
2. Bronze medal: Manar Mahmoud Al-Zadjaliyah (under 49 kg)
3. Bronze medal: Yousra Khamis Al-Shoukri (under 57 kg)
4. Bronze medal: Sabra Al-Sultiah (under 67 kg)

The national taekwondo team ranked third in the Asian Clubs Championship held in Iran from April 13 to April 14, 2017.

The national taekwondo team also ranked third at the Taekwondo Championship in Spain, held from August 12 to August 18, 2019.
