About the Committee:
Oman Karate Committee is responsible for promoting the sport of karate in Oman.
Committee Members:
- Brigadier General Saeed Salih Al Azri – Chairman
- Dr. Ali Taleb Al Raisi – Member
- Saeed Hamad Al Hashami – Member
- Hamoud Salem Al Touqi – Member
- Salem Darwish Al Qutiti – Member
- Ali Hamad Al Maawali – Secretary
Objectives of the Committee:
- To promote karate and unify its governance, while enhancing the skills of players, coaches, and referees to meet aspirations and elevate the sport of karate both nationally and internationally.
- To establish a dedicated database for registering all players, coaches, and referees.
- To identify and nurture talents in karate and work towards their development.
- To lift the ban on karate practice for individuals under the age of 16.
Achievements and Participation:
- Joined the International, Asian, and West Asian Karate Federations in 2016.
- Achieved several Gulf championships in various tournaments.
- Participated in the World Championship in Austria in 2016.
Future Vision and Goals:
- The committee aims to promote karate across all governorates of the Sultanate and attract a larger number of practitioners.
- Organize and host Gulf and Arab championships.
- Participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
- Promote karate in schools under the Ministry of Education.
