Silver Medal for Beach Soccer and Fourth Place for Beach Volleyball at the Conclusion of the Asian Beach Games
Oman’s national teams concluded their participation in the 6th Asian Beach Games, which were held in Sanya, China, from April 22 to 30, with the national beach soccer team winning the silver medal, while the national beach volleyball team finished in fourth place.
Oman’s national beach soccer team secured second place after losing 6–2 to Iran in the final match. Iran claimed the gold medal and first place, while Saudi Arabia secured the bronze medal after defeating Palestine 6–4 in the third-place playoff.
The final began cautiously from both sides before Iran opened the scoring in the first minute through an own goal by Oman player Muslim Al-Araimi. Iran continued its pressure and added two more goals in the closing minutes of the first period through Shokri Abadi and Mohammad Baltourk, ending the period with a 3–0 lead.
In the second period, Abdullah Al-Souti scored Oman’s first goal to reduce the deficit, but Iran responded with a fourth goal to finish the period leading 4–1.
In the third and final period, Iran added two more goals through Shokri Abadi and Ali Mirshikari, before Sami Al-Balushi scored Oman’s second goal in the closing minutes, as the match ended with a 6–2 victory for Iran.
In the beach volleyball competition, Oman finished fourth after losing 2–0 to Thailand in the third-place playoff match. The set scores were 21–18 and 21–15 in favor of Thailand.
The opening set witnessed a closely contested battle, with both teams exchanging the lead before Thailand managed to secure the set 21–18. In the second set, Thailand maintained its advantage and claimed the set 21–15 to seal the victory.
Oman’s national beach volleyball team participated in the tournament with players Mazen bin Suleiman Al-Hashmi and Hood bin Rashid Al-Jalboubi, under the guidance of coach Badr bin Saeed Al-Subhi and team administrator Abdullah bin Khalfan Al-Maawali.
