The Board of Directors of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) held its second meeting of the year last Thursday under the chairmanship of HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais Al Said, President of Oman Olympic Committee. During the meeting, the Board reviewed a number of agenda items and adopted the appropriate decisions and recommendations.

At the outset of the meeting, the Board approved the minutes of its first meeting of the year, which was held on 9 February 2026, and reviewed the decisions and recommendations issued therein.

Regarding upcoming sporting participations, the Board reviewed a memorandum submitted by the High Performance Sport and Olympic Planning Committee concerning participation in the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to be hosted by Japan from 19 September to 4 October 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya. The memorandum included the national teams that have expressed their intention to participate in this major event, as well as the approved evaluation framework for assessing such participations. The framework is based on a set of precise technical indicators, including performance levels and results achieved in previous competitions, thereby enhancing the objectivity of the evaluation process and strengthening the technical readiness of future participations.

The Board also reviewed a report on the participation of national teams in the 6th Asian Beach Games “Sanya 2026” and the 4th Gulf Games “Doha 2026”, along with the results achieved in both events. The Board commended the technical performances delivered by Omani athletes and praised the achievement of the Oman Beach Soccer National Team, which won the silver medal at the Asian Beach Games. The Board also congratulated the national teams on their total haul of 29 medals at the 4th Gulf Games, emphasizing that these results reflect the efforts of sports federations and committees, technical and administrative staff, as well as the athletes themselves.

The Board further reviewed the latest developments regarding the new Sports Organizations Law and the regulatory and legislative provisions it contains, which are expected to contribute to the development of the sports sector and strengthen institutional governance in line with future requirements.

In addition, Board members reviewed the minutes of the Personnel Affairs Committee meeting held on 2 June 2026 and approved the recommendations contained therein.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Board discussed other matters raised and adopted the appropriate decisions in support of the objectives and future programmes of Oman Olympic Committee.
