Honoring the National Fencing Team Female Players After a Distinguished Asian Participation

 

Yesterday, Wednesday, a ceremony was held at the headquarters of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) to honor the players of our national fencing team, who won the bronze medal in their recent participation at the Asian Junior Fencing Championship hosted by Kuwait from February 20 to 28, 2025. The event aimed to encourage and motivate athletes to give their best and highlight the successes achieved by Omani sports on the international stage.

The ceremony was attended by Khalid Mohammed Al-Zubair, OOC Chairman; Khalid Saeed Al-Shaibani, President of Oman Fencing Committee; Sayyida Sanaa Hamad Al-Busaidi, President of Oman Women Sports and Gender Equality Committee; and Taha Sulaiman Al-Kishry, OOC Secretary-General.

The program began with a visual presentation showcasing the players’ preparations for the championship, the challenges they faced during the competitions, and the efforts made by the technical staff led by Captain Hisham Ali Karshod. The presentation highlighted the intensive training strategy that helped the players achieve this honorable accomplishment. It also touched on the positive impact of this achievement on the future of women’s fencing in Oman.

Khalid Al-Shaibani, accompanied by Khalid Al-Zubair, honored the players: Jannah Mohammed Al-Sharjiya, Israa Saif Al-Siyabiya, and Salma Saeed Al-Daghishiya, along with their coach, Captain Hisham Ali Karshod, in recognition of his efforts in preparing the team and refining the players’ skills, which contributed to this proud achievement for Omani sports.

Khalid Mohammed Al-Zubair praised the players’ accomplishment, expressing his pride in the fighting spirit they demonstrated during the competition. He noted that this medal reflects the hard work carried out by Oman Fencing Committee to develop the sport and enhance the skills of both male and female players.

 

For his part, Khalid Saeed Al-Shaibani, President of Oman Fencing Committee, emphasized that this achievement would not have been possible without the continuous efforts of the players, technical staff, and administrative team. He pointed out that the committee is moving forward with its plans to increase interest in fencing and expand its practice base in Oman.

The players expressed their joy at this achievement, affirming that winning the bronze medal came after significant effort and intensive training. Jannah Mohammed Al-Sharjiya explained that the championship was highly competitive, but the team spirit and strong support from the technical and administrative staff played a crucial role in overcoming challenges and reaching the podium. She added that this achievement gives them greater motivation to continue working and achieving better results in the future.

Israa Saif Al-Siyabiya noted that winning this medal was a dream come true after months of intensive preparation. She emphasized that this moment will remain etched in her memory and that the team now aspires to deliver stronger performances in future competitions, using this achievement as a driving force for further development.

Salma Saeed Al-Daghishiya expressed her pride in representing Oman at this Asian event, stressing that the competition was tough and required high levels of focus, but determination and perseverance helped the team achieve this honorable result. She added that this accomplishment reflects the progress of fencing in Oman and marks the beginning of more successes in the future.
