OOC Board of Directors holds the 2nd meeting this year
Yesterday morning, Sunday, the Board of Directors of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) held the second meeting this year 2024 at the headquarters of the Oman Olympic Committee, headed by Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who began the meeting with a welcoming speech in which he thanked everyone for responding to the invitation and attending the meeting. Then, a number of main items on the agenda were discussed, including approving the minutes of the first Board of Directors meeting held on January 31, 2024, and reviewing the decisions and recommendations issued by that meeting that were implemented. The minutes of the first, second and third Executive Offices’ meetings for the year 2024 were also reviewed and approved. The Board of Directors reviewed the decision of the Executive Office of GCC NOCSs to set the date for the Third GCC Beach Games – Muscat 2025 at the beginning of April next year 2025, as GCC NOCs deemed the date appropriate to avoid conflicting with the continental and international beach games tournaments and championships.
The Board of Directors approved the report submitted by the auditor of OOC financial statements for the first quarter of this year. The Board also reviewed the ongoing preparations for participation in the Summer Olympic Games – Paris 2024, and the list of players participating in the tournament, hoping that their participation will be positive. The attendees reviewed the invitations received by OOC to participate in the 44th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia – Delhi – India, September 8, 2024, and the regular meeting of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Cascais – Portugal, October 29 – November 1, 2024, and the invitation to participate in the Asian Indoor Games – Thailand, November 21 – 30, 2024, and took the necessary decisions in this regard. The attendees also discussed the presented vision and the estimated financial budget submitted for the Olympic Museum project at the Oman Olympic Committee, and directed the Board of Directors to proceed with completing the procedures to implement this important project. The Board of Directors members were briefed on the latest developments regarding the adoption of amendments to the statute of the Oman Olympic Committee, noting the efforts made to complete the legal procedures for adopting the statute in coordination with the International Olympic Committee, after which the date of the Extraordinary General Assembly meeting to adopt the statute will be determined. The meeting concluded with a review of the reports and letters received and a discussion of the topics included in the item of any new business and the necessary recommendations and decisions were taken, including a review of the report on the participation of the Omani mission in the first GCC Youth Games in the United Arab Emirates and the invitation received regarding the holding of the first West Asian Youth Games (Iraq 2025).
