OOC organizes a first aid and resuscitation course

 

 

Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), represented by Oman Sports Medicine Committee, organized a first aid and resuscitation course at the headquarters of Oman Olympic Academy during the period from 20 to 22 May this year, within the framework of enhancing health and sports awareness and developing the skills of sports cadres in dealing with emergency cases. The course concluded today, Wednesday, under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Ajmi, CEO of the Oman Medical Specialization Board, in the presence of Khalid Mohammed Al-Zubair, OOC Chairman, Taha Al-Kishri, OOC Secretary General, and a number of members of the Board of Directors.

The closing ceremony included the distribution of cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices (AED) to sports federations and a number of sports committees as an initiative of Oman Sports Medicine Committee to enhance their capabilities in dealing with emergency cases and providing immediate first aid at training and match sites to ensure the safety of athletes.

 

 

The course was presented by Ahmed Bouzid, a first aid trainer at the Gate for Training Services, and a number of physical therapists and technical staff in sports federations and committees participated in it.

The course aimed to raise awareness of the importance of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with sports injuries and emergency situations, and enhance their readiness to respond immediately in emergency situations to ensure the safety of athletes. The course also included practical and theoretical exercises on how to provide first aid correctly and effectively, in addition to reviewing the latest methods and techniques in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, explaining the concepts of a series of rescue procedures, and the role of high-quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation in improving chances of survival.

 

 

The participants expressed their great benefit from the training content, stressing the importance of such courses in improving their professional performance and increasing their confidence in dealing with emergency situations. They also expressed their desire to participate in more advanced courses in the future to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of first aid and resuscitation.
