Cycling adds a bronze medal in GCC Youth Game

 

Oman national cycling team succeeded in achieving a bronze medal on the second day of the cycling competition, as part of first GCC Youth Game in UAE, bringing Oman’s tally to 33 colorful medals.

The cycling team was able to win third place in the team competition for junior category, the race was for 40 km in Abu Dhabi with participants of six cyclists for each team, where Oman achieved 3 hours, 5 minutes and 54 seconds (total times). The UAE team claimed the silver medal with a time of 3:05:49. The Saudi Arabia team snatched the gold medal with a time of 3:02:42.

Omani cyclists include Mohammed al Fadhili, Ahmed al Ajmi, Wase’ al Muqbali, Abdullah al Dara’i, and Qusay al Rubaie.

 

In equestrian competitions Oman team ranked fourth in team category of show Jumping, they achieved 211.66 second after fierce changing, while Qater won the gold with time of 195.31 seconds, Saudi Arabia team claimed the silver with time of 188.63 seconds, and UAE won the bronze with time of 202.24 seconds.

The competitions took place at the Sharjah Equestrian Club on Wednesday, the hurdles height was 120 to 125 cm, according to the regulations of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports.

 

Volleyball team left the tournament with their fifth loss to Bahraini team in three games to no return, 25/21, 25/13, and 25/9. The Bahrain team won the gold medal, while the Saudi team won the silver medal and the Kuwaiti team won the bronze medal.

 

Handball team seeks to compete for the bronze medal in the final round of competitions against the Bahraini team on Friday. Omani parleys had a valuable victory over Qatar in the penultimate round with a score of 28-29 goals on Wednesday at Al Bataeh Club hall in Sharjah. It was the second victory after defeating UAE 30-26 goals in its first appearance.

 

Hassan al Maamari, national team coach said,” after Qatar won in the last moment we become closer to competing for bronze medal, especially after raising our score to 4 points, Oman and Bahrain have same opportunities to win bronze, that will have made very strong match”

 

National golf team began competing in individual and team competitions today, after the organizing committee approved the participating list during the technical meeting yesterday. Where 30 players from 5 countries, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, are competing from Friday to Sunday.

 

Oman swimming team arrived UAE on Thursday, to take part in 24 games with 8 swimmers, include

Mohammed al Farsi, Mohammed al Wahaibi, Moath al Shaibani, Mishaal al Kulaibi, Hilal al Mashari, Ibrahim al Wahaibi, Hussein Tariq, and Ali al Hassani. The team was coached by Ameer Ali, assisted by Ayman al Kulaibi, and Ibrahim al Wahaibi as administrator.
