GCC Youth competition come to end
Oman National handball team achieved great win on the last moment over Qater with score of 28-29. This is the second win for national team after the first win over UAE, while they lost two matchs against Saudia Arabia and Kwait. The rest match for Oman team will be with Bahrain on Thursday to determine the top three teams.
The Sultanate of Oman delegation took part in the official opening ceremony of the Games in Dubai Opera. The delegation includes HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said, Vice-Chairman of Oman Olympic Committee, Taha bin Sulaiman al Kishri, Secretary General of OOC, Qais bin Saud al Zakwani, board member, Lujaina bint Mohsen Haider Darwish, board member, Sanaa al Busaidi, Chairperson of Oman Committee for Women’s Sports and Gender Equality, and and Kadhim al Balushi, Director of the Mission.
In present of Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, and Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid al Nuaimi, Vice President of the UAE Olympic Committee, Dubai Opera hosted the opening ceremony of the first edition of GCC Youth Games, with the participation of 3,500 male and female athletes competing in 25 sports into Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Fujairah.
The ceremony, which lasted 40 minutes on Tuesday, included three themes: sustainability, cohesion, and youth, through the latest technological, artificial intelligence tools and using of sustainable materials, in addition to highlighting the deep-rooted fraternal relations between GCC people. The ceremony also witnessed a special aspect for youth through the design of various segments dominated by activity. Liveliness and kinetic performances.
Table tennis competitions began on Wednesday, and will continue until April 27, at Shabab Al Ahli Club hall Dubai. where Oman youth represented by Ali al Rawahi, Turki al Abri, and Nasser al Zaabi faced Qatar team, the match ended with the Qatar winning with a score of 1/3.
Oman Youth women’s also lost to Kuwaiti team with score of 3-0, Oman team was represented by Talia al Rawahiyah and Salma al Nasiriyah.
In the evening competition Bahrain won over Oman team 3-0 in the youth women’s competition, while UAE won over Oman with score of 3-0 in the youth male’s competition.
Within volleyball competitions framework, Oman national youth volleyball team continued its losing streak after receiving the fourth defeat from Saudi team on Wednesday, with a score of three games to no avail (14/25, 15/25, 19/25) Volleyball team will conclude the first foreign participation with Bahrain match at Al Nasr Club hall with zero chance to be from top three.
National golf team arrived in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, after completing preparatory program by intensive training at the Al Mouj Golf Course.
The players list includes Adam bin Masoud al Barwani, Meher Neil Sumpt, Branch bin Gopal, Muhib bin Jamil al Kathiri, Masoud Abdullah al Barwani, team official and Ahmed Faisal al Jahdhami, technical member.
After the conclusion of 10 game’s competitions over 8 days، the hosted leads the overall medal standings with 138 medals, while Saudi Arabia occupies second place with 51 medals, in third place is Kuwait with 57 medals, a difference in gold medals, while Oman occupies fourth place with 35 medals, Qatar is in fifth place with 19 medals, and Bahrain is sixth with 26 medals.
