The 18th Asian Games – Indonesia (18 August – 2 September 2018)

 

 

 

Based on the decision of the Board of Directors of the Oman Olympic Committee, the eighteenth Asian Games, which was held in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2, 2018, participated with a delegation consisting of 69 participants, including 41 male players, 4 female players, and 24 administrators representing eight sports, namely:

 

(Athletics, Swimming, Archery, Sailing, Weightlifting, Hockey, Beach Volleyball, Tennis)

 

This participation is considered one of the main annual goals for 2018 of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) and an implementation of the long-term strategic plan leading to Olympic Games (2020-2024).

 

Results:

 

Sailing:

 

In the double-hull boat race (49), the team was represented by Walid Al-Kindi and Musaab Al-Hadi, and the fourth place was achieved, and it was close to winning the bronze medal had it not been for the technical error that occurred.

 

 Beach Volleyball:

 

The “B” team, consisting of Mazen Al-Hashemi and Noah Al-Jalboubi, managed to reach the quarter-finals, after winning four matches.

 

In the 100-meter race, 35 players participated in the competition, and the runner, Barakat Al-Harthy, qualified for the semi-finals, recording a record of 10.21 seconds and achieving ninth place.

 

In the 4 x 100m relay race, the runners represented the Sultanate’s national team: Barakat Al-Harthy, Fatik Beit Qaisan, Muhammad Al-Saadi and Ammar Al-Saifi. The team achieved ninth place, recording a record of 39.76 seconds.

 

The national team won three matches and achieved seventh place in the tournament.

 

 swimming:

 

The shooting team was represented by nine shooters (6 males and 3 females), and they were able to develop and improve their records and left a good impression on the Asian level, and the best qualitative among them was the shooter Hussein Al-Shahoumi who participated in the double trap competition, and the shooter Hamad Al-Khatiri who participated in the 50m rifle 3 race modes.

 

 tennis:

 

Despite the high level of competition, the players of our national tennis team, Muhammad Al-Nabhani and Fatima Al-Nabhani, were able to present good levels and gain experience after they came into contact with high-level players in the tournament.
