OOA organizes “Basic Principles of Sports Governance” Course

Oman Olympic Academy (OOA) organizes this morning, “Tuesday”, a course on ” Basic Principles of Sports Governance”, in light of the directions of Oman’s government to implement governance in the unity of the state’s administrative apparatus within the Oman 2040 vision.

The course aims to raise awareness of the culture of governance in general, and in particular governance in the Oman 2040 vision, in addition to identifying mechanisms for implementing governance.

The course will be presented by Dr. Khalifa bin Muhammad Al-Fatehi, and 33 participants from Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), sports federations and committees, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, sports clubs, and the Military Sports Directorate.

The course includes practical applications and theoretical lectures in many axes, including the origins and history of governance and its concept, goals, determinants and stages of governance, the concept of corruption, a reading of the job fraud report, governance indicators and frameworks, a review of the Saudi experience in club governance, and the Lean methodology. The lecturer will also address governance in Oman 2040 vision, goals and indicators of governance and institutional performance, challenges of implementing governance in sports organizations, in addition to reviewing international efforts in the field of sports governance, and training in analyzing and solving problems. During the course, short assessment tests will be conducted for the participants.

OOA, through the various courses organized, aims to develop and qualify human competencies in sports institutions in various sports sciences and the best modern methods and methods, and to provide a platform for scientific research in the fields of Olympic sports, in addition to adopting initiatives and constructive ideas to serve the sports community, and support Olympic education programs in all schools, universities and colleges.
