Oman Olympic Committee opens exhibition of its historical belongings

On the occasion of convening the Ordinary General Assembly of Oman Olympic Committee a display arena of OOC’s acquisitions was opened within the Building of OOC and Sports Associations. The opening was presided over by Mr. Abdallah bin Hamad Al Ali, first OOC Chairman, upon its inception in 1982. The ceremony was also attended by a number of sports personalities who have successively chaired OOC over the past terms of office. The photos showcased at the exhibition featured historical profile of the sports and Olympic movement in the Sultanate and highlighted the efforts made by the OOC Board chairmen and members over various terms of office. In addition, gifts, certificates, medals, orders and images of Olympic and continental participations and official and sports delegations who represented the Sultanate at those events. The exhibition was admired by its visitors who commended the idea and organization and urged such efforts to continue in order to introduce OOC’s drive.

The display room included features of OOC’s history and profile of OOC chairmen since its inception as well as some other sports and Olympic acquisitions and photos of Olympic and continental participation by OOC’s missions epitomizing the bonds of international relations between OOC and global and local sports organizations. The exhibition revives and enriches Oman’s Olympic Movement and provides good opportunity to familiarize the visitors with the cultural legacy of OOC’s drive.
